She is the most famous Hindi novelist of all time. She started writing when she was in her early 20s. At that time, she was working as a typist in a government office, and used to spend her evenings at the local cinema. One day, she saw a movie where the main character was a girl, and the girl was played by Devaki. This girl had a different life from the one in the movie, and it made Khatri think: “What if I were the main character in a book?”

Chandrakanta is a story about two lovers, Virendra Singh and Chandrakanta. They belong to two different kingdoms. They meet in an atmosphere of hate and violence, and their love is built on lies and deceit.
